Frequently Asked Questions

What type of roofing materials do you use?

Our company uses either architectural or 3 tab shingles. Architectural shingles can also be referred to as dimensional shingles. Both offer their own type of advantages. We also use composition shingles, metal standing seam/raised rib and TPO for flat roofs. Our roofing experts will ensure that we pick the best solution for your roofing needs.

How long does replacing a roof typically take?

Our typical turn around time for replacing roofs is one day. However, this can also vary based on square footage of the roof and weather as well.

How can I get an estimate?

Contact Roofology to schedule a FREE inspection which upon completion of the inspection, we will provide an estimate. You can contact us via website or give us a call at 770-757-5880.

Do we have to be out of the house when you are replacing the roof?

No, you do not have to leave the premises. However, we do like to forewarn clients that during the time of the roof replacement, construction can be loud throughout the home.

How do you calculate the amount of shingles I will need for my roof?

Apart of our process is we measure the length and width of each plane on the roof (including the corners) then we multiply the length times the width. Our final step is we add the square footage of each of the planes together to calculate the needed amount of shingles.

Why is there discoloring in my roof?

There could be four causes for discoloration.

1) Roofing Shingle Algae Streaking. Algae growth is common on roofs and it results in brown or black streaks on the rooftop. It could be mistaken for dirt or tree droppings but these only cause localized discoloration typically while algae streaking will continue to grow over time.

2) Asphalt Bleed Through. These typically leaves black streaks that run down an asphalt shingle roof and is actually an indication of a defective product.

3) Rust Stains. This will typically cause red or brown roof stains and causes may vary based on environment and exposure to elements.

4) Moss or lichen

What kind of ventilation can I use on my roof?

In most cases, we recommend soffit vents for intake and a ridge vent for exhaust. For homes that cannot have a ridge vent, box vents are generally the second best option for exhaust. And for homes that cannot have soffit ventilation, you will find that fascia vents will be your second best option for intake.
